Bir televizyon dizisinin setinde yolları yıllar sonra yeniden kesişen Akın ve
Serdal, bir zamanlar aynı hayalleri kurmuş, birlikte yoksul öğrencilik günleri
geçirmiş iki eski dosttur. Kenan bugün şöhretli bir oyuncu, Serdal ise tiyatrosu
borç yüzünden kapanmanın eşiğine gelmiş bir tiyatro yönetmeni ve oyuncusudur.
Arkadaşının baskısıyla harçlık çıkarmak için diyaloglu bir yardımcı oyuncu
olarak sete gelmiştir. Yardımcı oyuncu olarak set çalışanları tarafından
önemsenmeyen hatta saygısızlığa uğrayan Serdal, başrol oyuncusu Akın’ın yakın
arkadaşı olduğu öğrenildiğinde bir star muamelesi görmeye başlar. Patates
Kızartması, sinema sektörünün içinden bugünün insanına bakan; başarı, vicdan ve
ertelenmiş hayaller üzerine bir film.
Years after their paths last crossed, Akın and Serdal reunite on the set of a
television series. Once close friends who shared the same dreams and struggled
through their impoverished student years together, their lives have since taken
very different paths. Akın is now a famous actor, while Serdal is a theatre
director and actor whose theatre is on the verge of closing due to mounting
debts. At a friend’s insistence, he has come to the set to earn some extra money
by taking a small speaking role. Initially ignored and even treated
disrespectfully by the crew because he is seen merely as a supporting actor,
Serdal suddenly receives star treatment when they discover that he is a close
friend of leading actor Akın. French Fries looks at contemporary life from
inside the film industry—a story about success, conscience, and deferred dreams.
