Uzun zaman Almanya’da çalıştıktan sonra Türkiye’ye kesin dönüş yapan 80
yaşındaki Hasan, ineği ve buzağısıyla yayladaki eski ahşap evine yerleşir.
Hasan’ın Almanya’da çalışan oğlu Erdoğan amansız bir hastalığın
pençesindedir. Erdoğan’ın son isteği, ahşap evdeki bir odada rüzgârın
sesiyle birkaç gece uyumaktır. Geçmişte Erdoğan’ı ihmal eden Hasan, oğlunun
bu son isteğini yerine getirmek için hızla işe koyulur ve evdeki odalardan
birini oğlu için hazırlamaya başlar. Zamana karşı yarışan Hasan, tüm
hazırlıkları bitirir ve oğlunu beklemeye koyulur.
Time to Leave” about a father, whose son – living in Germany – turned ill
and wanted to come back and live with the father in a cottage in a mountain
area. The father prepares his return, but the son dies and the father
regrets that he had no contact with the son, when he was in prison because
of drugs.
Hasan (80), after working in Germany for a long time, gets retired. From
time to time, he comes back to Turkey and spends sometime in the village he
was born in. Start of 1990’s. Hasan registers his son Erdoğan, who was born
in Berlin, to Imam Preachers high school in Istanbul to protect him from his
bad habits he acquired in Berlin. Due to him not being able to fit in there,
Hasan sends Erdoğan back to Berlin after one year and he sees that Erdoğan
was not able to get rid of his bad habits. Hasan gets extremely upset when
Erdoğan is put behind bars due to thievery, drugs and extortion. Since he is
a religious and conservative man, Hasan takes a harsh stand against his son
and doesn’t call, neither does he hire a lawyer nor visit Erdoğan during 3.5
years he spends in prison. When Hasan learns that during his time in prison,
Erdoğan got an incurable disease, this time he fights to make his son
recover. This process drains Hasan emotionally. Spring of 2005. Hasan goes
to his village in Çaykara to rest for a while, and in summer he goes to
flatlands. Autumn arrives, Vargit flowers blossom. Everyone except Hasan has
left the flatlands. Hasan fulfils his son Erdoğan’s wish for a renovated
wooden room and starts to wait for his son’s arrival. Hasan falls to pieces
when he faces his son’s death knell and leaves his house in the flatlands.
