Nazlı Benan Özkaya




Nazlı Benan Özkaya was born in Denizli, Turkey in 1986. She had her first encounter with the stage through her elementary school play. Nazlı Benan was admitted to the Department of Theatre at Ankara University, Faculty of Humanities in 2005. She experienced physical theatre for the first time with the play “Kaygı” (Anxiety) at Domus Sanat Çiftliği, Ankara. She worked in various plays as an actress and assistant director at the State Theatres in Ankara and attended domestic and international tours with these projects. She moved to New York in 2011. She studied with Eric Morris, Anthony Vincent Bova, Anna Ivara, Sam Groom and Michael Blake. She worked as an actress in TARTE (Turkish American Repertory Theatre) in the projects called in “The Introduction”, an off-off-Broadway piece, and worked in “Bellini and the Sultan” for supporting and lead roles. Nazlı Benan moved to İstanbul in 2013. She acted in alternative theatres, worked as an acting coach and also acted in various short movies. At 2017 she worked for 'Toy İstanbul' as 'Marie' in the play 'Blu' which has directed by Meltem Cumbul. At 2018 started working for State Theatre of Turkey in Istanbul as the lead actress in the play ‘Keloglan Kelesoglan’ directed by Ulviye Karaca. She also continues her MA at Bahcesehir University, Film, and Television department. Payda (2019) is her first short movie ever as a director.
