The innocent lines of a young girl’s diary recount a summer day in her family’s
lush garden—her father’s guests, the games she plays, and the heaviness of the
heat. Yet, when a “snowflake” falls onto her notebook, it begins to reveal
traces of another, unseen reality.
Through a continuous single camera movement, what appears as snow is gradually
understood as ash, exposing a forest fire burning just beyond the walls.
Dear Diary contrasts childhood innocence with the hidden violence of the climate
crisis, inviting the viewer to confront the environmental cost behind everyday
life.
