On a sunny day, a man drives his car to meet his friends, but he is not aware of
something that happened four years ago is about to hunt him down on the road.
Written and directed by two directors, The Haze, apart from providing the
audience with an immersive experience; has been designed to make the audience
think about how the concepts of justice, crime and criminal might change
according to their point of view. The title of the movie, The Haze, was actually
created as a metaphor describing the the idea behind the film. The movie moves
through the characters, who are suffocated in a haze and cannot see their way.
In this metaphorical "haze" that surrounds the truth, everyone is following
justice and salvation with only the part of the story they know. The truth
revealed at the end of the movie, however, disproves all judgment and makes us
rethink the actions of all the characters. Who really is the monster? Who is
really to blame? How should justice be handled in this situation? We wrote and
completed the movie based on this theme while adopting a fast-edited, striking
and fluent narrative language that moves with ever-increasing tension and rhythm
in order to increase the impact so that the audience can experience the movie
better and the movie would stay in their minds when it reaches its most striking
point and make them think about the concept we are dealing with in the film.
Again, by highlighting the theme and the story, we limited the venues in order
to put the audience in the same mood as the characters, and chose a remote
forest road, which is a difficult place to get out of. Our casting choices were
shaped as a result of many trials and reading rehearsals. While choosing the
actors, we paid attention if they have the characteristics of the characters
they play, so that they could live the characters beyond acting. The music
selections were made in a way that the music did not precede the film and
distract the audience from the flow, but supported the emotion, conflict, and
rhythm in the scenes in the best way. Camera language was created to leave a
space for the audience to observe and think in some places, but also it was
created in a dynamic and follow-up manner, intertwined and layered, making the
audience feel the same with the characters and get into the story. This layered
camera langue also gave us the opportunity to control the visual rhythm of the
film in the editing phase. At the end of the day, by combining all these
elements, we have created our movie The Haze. We believe that a movie that will
make the audience think of and question the deadlocks about our search for
justice is now standing in front of us, as well as giving the audience an
immersive 19 minutes. We are very excited about the journey of our film. Mert &
