Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarıdır. Köyün yeni açılan okuluna ilk defa bir öğretmen atanır. Öğretmen kara tahta başında yeni Türk harflerini, cumhuriyet şiirini ve 10. Yıl marşını öğrencileriyle birlikte
okuyordur. Öğretmen tahtaya döndüğünde öğrencilerin sesi kesilir. Öğretmen ve öğrencileri, annesi ve babasıyla birlikte tarlada karasabanla çalışan Fatma’ya hüzünlü gözlerle bakarlar. Fatma, bir
tepenin üzerine çıkar ve okulun sesini dinleyerek resim çizmeye başlar. Öğretmen ve öğrenciler de tepeye, Fatma’nın yanına merakla çıkarlar. Fatma’nın çizdiği resmi görür ve büyülenirler. Öğretmen ve
Fatma arasında bir konuşma geçer. Fatma, tepeden okula doğru adım adım ilerler.
It is the first years of the Republic. A teacher has been appointed to the newly opened school of the village for the first time. The teacher is at the blackboard reading the new Turkish letters, the
poem of the republic and the 10th year anthem with his students. When the teacher returns to the blackboard, the students are silent. The teacher and his students look sadly outside at Fatma, who is
working with her mother and father in the field with a plough. Fatma goes up the hill and starts to draw a picture, listening to the sound of the school. The teacher and the students, curiousl, go up
the hill to Fatma. They look at Fatma’s drawing and are mesmerised. A conversation takes place between the teacher and Fatma. Fatma walks step by step down the hill towards the school.
I wanted to make this film about the mission of our teachers in the advancement of education and the 100th anniversary of our republic.
