Bu film, gizemli bir şekilde insanların kaybolduğu bir şehirde tek başına
yaşayan, toplumdan kendini soyutlamış, toplumsal trajedilere karşı vurdumduymaz
bir adamın gizemli bir şekilde yok olma hikayesini konu almaktadır.
“Mirrorty” is about the mysterious disappearance of a man who lives alone in a
city where people are vanished mysteriously, who is alienated from society and
ignorant to social tragedies.

“Aynanın Gizemi” adlı bu kısa film üç perdeli dramatik yapı- kahramanın
yolculuğu ilkelerine göre tasarlanmıştır. Kahramanın yolculuğu aşamalarından
formül olarak değil bir form olarak yararlanılmıştır. Filmin psikolojik gerilim
türünde olması göz önüne alınarak mekanlar seçilmiş ve istenilen atmosfere uygun
sanat ve ışık tasarımı yapılmıştır. Bazı sahnelerde anlatımı güçlendirmek için
görsel efektler ve ses efektleri kullanılmıştır. Filmin çekimleri filmin kurgu
aşaması düşünülerek gerçekleştirilmiştir. Filmde ayna sahnelerinin zorluğundan
dolayı çekimlerden önce fotoshooting çalışması yapılmış ve oyuncularla ön
provalar yapılmıştır. Film kapalı son ile biter. Filmin ikinci perdesinden
itibaren seyirciye gerilim duygusu verilmeye ve filmin doruk noktasında da
katarsis duygusu yaşatılmaya çalışılmıştır.
Yüksek lisans tezi olarak hazırladığım bu film, bana hem teorik hem de pratik
açıdan pek çok kazanım sağlamıştır. Filmin yaratıcı fikir aşamasında üç perdeli
dramatik yapı, kahramanın yolculuğu aşamaları, çatışma kavramları, Jung’un
arketip kuramı, Lacan ve Metz’in ayna kuramları gibi sinema teorilerini çalışma
ve araştırma fırsatı bulmak ve bu öğrendiklerimi kısa filmimde uygulamaya
çalışmak benim için çok önemli kazanımlar oldu. Bu filmin bana en büyük katkısı
prodüksiyon alanında oldu. Filmin prodüksiyon aşamasında yapımcı, görüntü
yönetmeni, cast direktörü, post sorumlusu, sesçi, kurgucu, tiyatrocu, oyuncu
gibi insanlarla tanıştım ve onları bu projeye ikna etmeye çalıştım. Prodüksiyon
aşamalarının tamamını yaşayarak filmimin yapımcılığını da yapmış oldum. Aynı
zamanda kurgunun sinemada çok önemli bir aşama olduğunu öğrenmek bir başka
önemli kazanımım oldu.
Director Statement
This short film “Mirrorty” has been designed according to the principles of three-act dramatic structure which is the hero’s journey. The stages of the hero’s journey are utilized not as a formula but
as a form. Considering the film is a psychological thriller, the locations were selected and the art and lighting effects were designed in accordance with the desired atmosphere. Visual and sound
effects were employed in certain scenes to enhance the storytelling. The film was shot with the editing phase of the film in mind. Due to the difficulty of the mirror scenes in the film, the photo
Production Process was carried out before the shooting and preliminary rehearsals were held with the cast. The film concludes with a closed ending. From the se cond act onwards, the viewers are meant
to experience a sense of suspense, leading to a cathartic moment at the climax.
This film, which I prepared as a master’s thesis, has provided me with many theoretical and practical gains. Having the opportunity to study and research cinematic theories such as the three-act
dramatic structure, the stages of the hero’s journey, the concepts of conflict, Jung’s archetype theory, Lacan and Metz’s mirror stages, and trying to apply what I learned in my short film were great
achievements for me. The most significant contribution of this film for me was in the field of production. Throughout the production phase, I interacted with professionals such as producers,
cinematographers, casting directors, post-production supervisors, sound designers, editors, theater practitioners, and actors, trying to convince them to be part of this project. By experiencing the
entire production process, I also took on the role of a producer for my film. At the same time, learning that editing is a crucial stage in filmmaking was another significant gain for me.
