Fadile Didem Avkan Gültekin




She was born in 1978 at Birecik. She was graduated in 2003 from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Gazi University. She participated in 2015 to a “Creative Writing” workshop at Antalya Kırmızı Kalem Art Academy. In the course of thisworkshop, her short stories, “The Sparrow Settling on Tarmac” and “Three Eggs”, were read aloud as a closet drama. She worked in 2016 with cinematographer Hüseyin Özşahin, focusing on techniques concerning light and lenses.In 2016, she adapted her own story “The Loss” to screen, and shother first short film bearing the same title. “The Loss” was screened in more than thirty national andinternational film festivals, and awarded in four international filmfestivals, including an award for “the best script for a short film”. In 2018, she was graduated from Photography and Cameradepartment of Anadolu University. Between 2016-2018, she participated as a listener student toundergraduate courses “Introduction to Cinema” and “World Cinema”, and graduate and doctorate courses “Currents and Theories in Cinema”, “Women Studies in Cinema” and “Cultural Film Critique” by Prof. Emine Uçar İlbuğa at the Faculty ofCommunication of Akdeniz University. Throughout 2021-2022, she wrote the script of a short film project,“297 Years, 23 Minutes” inspired by Ursula Le Guin’s short story “The Diary of the Rose”. She studies presently at Cinema and Television Department ofAkdeniz University and Sociology Department of AnadoluUniversity.
