Türkiye’de sokak köpeklerinin öldürülmesini içeren yeni bir yasaya karşı bir
protesto gerçekleştirilmekte. Bu film, bu protestolardan birinde geçiyor. Ana
karakterimiz, protestocuların geçişini izlerken vücudunda kontrol edilemez bir
tepki oluşuyor. Protesto devam ederken, polis güçleri biber gazı ve şiddetle
protestoyu sona erdirmeye çalışıyor. Bu, adamın hissini karşı konulmaz ve
kontrol edilemez hale getiriyor. “Direniş ve Beden”, kendini ifade etmenin,
cesaretin ve kırılmaz insan ruhunun güçlü bir hikayesidir. Film, dans sanatı
aracılığıyla kimlik, direniş ve yaratıcılığın dönüştürücü gücü temalarını
keşfediyor.
There is a protest happening in Turkey against a new law that includes killing
stray dogs. This movie is set during one of these protests. Our main character
watches the protesters pass by and feels a sensation in his body. As the protest
continues, the police try to end it with pepper spray and violence. This makes
the man’s sensation irresistible and uncontrollable. “Resistance and Body” is a
powerful tale of self-expression, courage, and the unbreakable human spirit.
Through the art of dance, the film explores themes of identity, resistance, and
the transformative power of creativity.
The main theme is resisting through dance, featuring actual footage of a man
trying to suppress the urge to dance during a protest. We wanted to film our
script amidst a real protest where people were resisting a law in Turkey aimed
at killing stray dogs. We believed that being “really there” was important
because if we were to suggest and encourage a form of art as resistance, we
should be there resisting with our art. However, we had to run away and finish
the movie in a safer place due to the pepper sprays. :)
