Mor Cepken geleneği Yörük kültüründe oldukça önemli yeri olan bir gelenektir;
genç kızlar evlendirilirken çeyizine önce Mor Cepken konulurdu ‘’İnşallah hiçbir
zaman giymek zorunda kalmazsın kızım’’ temennisi ile. Zira evli bir kadın Mor
Cepkeni giyip de köy meydanında görünür bir yere oturursa bu ‘’Ben eşimden
şiddet görüyorum ve bu adamı boşuyorum.’’ anlamına gelirdi. Mor Cepkenli kadını
gören herkes eldeki işini aşını bırakır yardımına koşardı. Şiddet uygulayan eş
özrünü kabul ettirip de Mor Cepkeni çıkarttıramazsa bir daha o köyde o adamla
kimse konuşmaz, kahvehanelere alınmaz, hatta bir daha asla o köyden kimseyle
evlenemez, ömrünün sonuna kadar kör ocak kalırdı. Bu noktada belirtilmelidir ki
‘’Mor Cepken’’ sandığa ya da bohçaya sıkıştırılan sıradan bir folklorik malzeme
değildir. Mor Cepken aslında üretici bir aile hayatının nasıl paylaşıldığının
ifadesidir. Yörük geleneği olması da tesadüfi değildir. Bu yaşam tarzı, yani
konar göçerlik, ailenin tüm bireylerinin – çocuklar dahil – üretime ortaklaşa
katıldığı zor ve meşakkatlidir. Bir o kadar da doğa ile iç içe, özgür ve
direngen bir yaşamdır.
Mor Cepken belgeseli Yörük kültürüne özgü bu sosyal hareketten yola çıkarak
unutulan bu geleneği yeniden hatırlatarak, biraz sisler arasında kalmış,
unutulmaya yüz tutmuş ve toplum hafızasından neredeyse silinmiş bir ahlaki
değerle yeniden buluşmayı ve bir farkındalık yaratmayı hedeflemiştir.
The Purple Cepken tradition is atradition that has a very important place in
Yoruk Culture; when young girls got married, the first thing put in their dowry
was the Purple Cepken with the wish of I hope you never have to wear it my
doughter. Because if a married woman wore the Purple Cepken and sat in a place
where she can be seen easily in the village square, it meant ‘’ I am being
subjected to violence by my husband and I am divorcing this man.’’ Everyone who
saw the woman with the Purtple Cepken would drop everything and run to help her.
If the violent spouse couldn’t get his apology accepted and get his wife’s Mor
Cepken taken off, no one in that village would talk to that man again , he would
not be allowed into the coffe houses, and he would never marry anyone from that
village again. He would live as a bach fort he rest of his life. It should be
noted at this point that the “Purple Cepken” is not an ordinary folkloric
material squeezed into a chest or a bundle.
The Purple Cepken is actually an expression of how a productive family life is
shared. It is not a coincidence that it is a Yoruk tradition. This lifestyle,
namely nomadism, is a difficult and demanding life in which all family members –
including children – participate in production together. It is also a life
intertwined with nature, free and resilient. The documentary Mor Cepken aims to
reunite with a moral value that has been somewhat shrouded in mist, almost
forgotten and almost erased from the memory of society, and to create awareness
by reminding us of this forgotten tradition, starting from this social movement
specific to the Yoruk culture.
