The Deck (Güverte) is a documentary exploring the lives of seafarers who have
built their existence upon the waves. Far from land and those they love, these
men carry the weight of sacrifice—working through long voyages to pay debts,
support their families, and secure a future for their children.
On the same massive steel structure, each of them experiences a different shade
of solitude. For those who feel like strangers on land and guests in their own
homes, the deck becomes both a refuge and a quiet sentence of separation.
Beginning with the haunting question “Why am I here?”, the film follows an
emotional journey toward belonging—where the horizon becomes a companion, and
the sea becomes home.
