Türk tiyatrosunu batılı anlamda bir disiplin sistemi içinde kuran Ertuğrul
Muhsin, Türk sinemasının da aynı disiplin içinde kurulmasına ve gelişmesine
liderlik eder. 1922-1939 yılları arasında Türkiye’de film üreten tek kişidir.
‘’Tiyatrocular Dönemi’’ olarak da adlandırılan bu dönem tekelcilik suçlamalarını
da beraberinde getirir. Bu belgesel, ‘’Ardında birçok eser bırakmış olan
Ertuğrul Muhsin, Türk sinemasının öncüsü müdür yoksa onun gelişmesinin önünde
bir engel midir?’’ sorusuna, o döneme tanıklık etmiş kişiler, sinema alanındaki
akademisyenler ile yapılmış röportajlar ve canlandırmalar ile cevap arar.
Ertuğrul Muhsin Bey, tiyatroya, sinemaya ve sanata adanmış bir ömür. Dur durak
bilmeden öğrenme ve öğretme çabasında bir hayat, bir gezgin. Kendi hayatını
beyaz perdeden izleme şansı olsaydı yine aynı yollardan gider miydi? Sinema
sanatının oluşmasına, gelişmesine kattıkları ve yapmayı isteyip de
yapamadıklarıyla Ertuğrul Muhsin Bey.
Ertuğrul Muhsin, who establishes Turkish theater in a disciplinary system in the
western sense, leads the establishment and development of Turkish cinema in the
same discipline. He is the only person who produces films in Turkey between 1922
and 1939. This period, also called the "Theater Makers' Period", brings with it
accusations of monopoly. This documentary seeks an answer to the question "Is
Muhsin Ertuğrul, who leaves behind many works, the pioneer of Turkish cinema or
is he an obstacle to its development?" through animations and interviews with
people who witnessed that period and academics in the field of cinema.
Ertuğrul Muhsin spent a lifetime dedicated to theater, cinema and art. He lived
his life in an effort to learn and teach relentlessly besides being a traveler.
If he had had the chance to watch his own life on the big screen, would he have
followed the same path? Ertuğrul Muhsin Bey with what he contributed to the
formation and development of the art of cinema and what he wanted to do but
could not.
