When Denizli is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind, without a doubt,
is the world famous Pamukkale. However, at least many people in Turkey have also
heard about the Denizli Rooster. Perhaps they have heard about it, but there are
probably only very few people who have see this rooster.
The words Denizli Rooster, whose name has been heard, but who has not been seen,
reminds many people of rooster fights, but these roosters are never fought. If
anything, they would only be the subject of beauty or sound contests.
Yes, as it Can be understood from the above statements, the appearance and the
various colors of the Denizli Roosters are really very impressive. Their main
characteristic is their long crowing. Generally, they have a crowing period
varying between 15-18 seconds, but it is said that there are those who crow
between 22-28 seconds. During our filming, we came across and recorded one
rooster who crowed for 22 seconds.
The people of Denizli are very proud of their roosters and they are doing their
best to protect the race of this pure gene, unique to Denizli and they take
great pleasure in listening to the long crowing of their roosters.
This documentary called The Denizli Rooster, tries to describe this pure gene
breed from all of its aspects through their breeders and growers.
