Four young women set out to investigate old folk tales in the abandoned villages of Erzurum. With the goal of filming a documentary, they venture into the village, where they begin to uncover the
legends of the alkarısı spirit, a cursed spring, and the mystery of missing people. As they delve deeper, the team encounters increasingly supernatural events. The line between reality and fear begins
to blur, and one by one, each woman is forced to confront her own terror. Visit becomes a journey to explore how traditional beliefs and fears still manifest in the modern world.
This film was born out of a desire to preserve the voices and stories of unheard. Shot in a remote village in Erzurum, Turkey, the film explores local folklore, supernatural beliefs, and the
collective memory of aging women who have witnessed decades of cultural transformation. As a female filmmaker, I felt a deep connection to these women and their narratives — tales of “henenkür” and
“alkarısı” that are passed down through whispers, rituals, and fear. By blending observational footage with atmospheric storytelling, I aimed to capture not only what they say, but also how they live,
remember, and believe. This is not just a film about myth — it is a story about the invisible threads that connect gender, tradition, and silence in rural Anatolia.
