Bir akşam kız arkadaşı Selin'i yemeğe davet eden Gökhan, ona yeni aldığı bir
sanat eserini göstermek ister. Fakat bu eserin etkileri çift arasında gerginliği
tırmandırır ve zaman algısı kaybolmaya başlar.
Inviting his girlfriend to dinner one evening, Gökhan wants to show her a new
piece of art he just bought. However, the effects of this work of art increase
the tension between the couple and the sense of time begins to fade.
The short film "Stendhal" deals with this psychological disorder/syndrome not
only with its symptoms, but also as an element of fear. The script bears traces
of this syndrome, of course, it also affects the characters (such as rapid
heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, and even hallucinations), but many different
materials are also a part of this story. Visual language, on the other hand, is
kept close to the Giallo genre. Dialogues are of course important, but mostly
the story, unexpected twists and aesthetics of the film are in the foreground.
The absurd aspects of the film, the colors, the camera angles used, the fonts
used when dividing the chapters, even the credit part is a tribute to the golden
era of Italian horror cinema. In short, modern horror meets giallo's unique
visual expression. Berk Köse and Ferit Doğan are 4th grade students studying
Cinema and Television at Istanbul Gelişim University. First, they worked
together on the short film " Daisy Trampled Down" directed and written by Berk
Köse, where Ferit worked as a lighting assistant. Then they cowrote the script
of the short film "Process", which was also directed by Berk Köse. Later, Berk
Köse worked as the cinematographer in the short film "Past, Future, Now" which
was directed and written by Ferit Doğan. The short film "Stendhal" has joined
the duo's ongoing projects in which Berk and Ferit cowrote the script and
codirected the film.
