Kardelen Gökçedağ Born in Izmir, Turkey on 27 March 1992, Kardelen Gökçedağ studied film theory, film making and literature. Her interest in the art of cinema nascented during her time while she was studying English Language and Literature. She had taken elective courses in film studies which made her realize that she had tendency towards film as a medium to communicate her thoughts and feelings. In this sense, the process of film making and communicating through images and sound, later, started to captivate her. The interest in film and photography, which blossomed during her literature studies increased with the contribution of the elective classes in film. Having graduated from the department of English Language and Literature, Kardelen decided to be a film director. She moved to Budapest, Hungary and studied film theory and filmmaking. Her first short film called ‘On the Edge’ which was a poetic documentary drama about her grandmother who was coming towards the end of her life was selected to be screened at the Film Futures programme at the Alexandre Trauner Art Film Festival in 2023.
