Zehra tells the story of a woman who keeps the forgotten tradition of handmade
swing making alive. Through this vanishing craft, the film explores themes of
female resilience, labor, and identity in rural Anatolia—uncovering a quiet but
powerful story of endurance and transformation.
Zehra is a story born out of silence — the kind of silence that surrounds many
women who are struggling to be heard. Through this film, I wanted to explore the
quiet resilience of a character who is often overlooked but never truly
invisible. Zehra represents many; she is both an individual and a reflection of
a collective experience.
As a director, my aim was to portray her inner world with honesty and minimalism
— allowing emotion to rise not from dialogue, but from space, light, and
stillness. This film is my attempt to listen to those who are rarely listened to,
and to shed light on the strength that hides in softness.
