İstanbul’un en turistik yerlerinden biri olan Galata köprüsü günün her saatinde
binlerce insanı ağırlıyor. Ancak bilinmeyen gerçeklerden biri de Galata
köprüsünün yalnızca turistlere değil İstanbul’un her semtinden ve kesiminden
insana kapı araladığı. Din, dil, millet, meslek, statü fark etmeksizin her birey
burada kendisine ait bir şey bulup köprüde vakit geçirebiliyor.
Galata köprüsünün adeta sembolü haline gelen balıkçılardan tutun da köprü
üstünde kumar oynayanlara, köprünün meyhanelerinde rakı içenlere, tüm gün
köprüde fotoğraf çekenlere ya da köprüye yürüyüş yapmaya gelenlere kadar bir çok
kişi burada. Hatta ve hatta köprüyü evi bellemiş ayyaşların bile burada olması
çok doğal bir şey. Ama neden? Neden Galata köprüsündeler?
İnsanların gidebilecekleri onlarca yer varken neden Galata köprüsünde vakit
geçirmeyi tercih ediyorlar. Neden Buradasın belgeselin deki amaç da tam olarak
bu sorunun peşine düşüp bu insanların neden bu köprüde olduklarına ayna tutmak
ve gözlemci bir bakış açısıyla köprünün bilinmeyen hikayelerini keşfetmek.
Galata Bridge, one of the most touristic places in Istanbul, welcomes thousands
of people every hour of the day. However, one of the unknown facts is that the
Galata bridge opens the door not only to tourists but also to people from every
district and part of Istanbul. Regardless of religion, language, nationality,
profession or status, every individual can find something of his own here and
spend time on the bridge.
Many people are here, from fishermen who have become the symbol of the Galata
bridge, to those who gamble on the bridge, to those who drink raki in the
taverns of the bridge, to those who take pictures on the bridge all day or to
take a walk on the bridge. It is very natural that even the drunkards who call
the bridge their home are here. But why? Why are they on the Galata bridge?
Why do people prefer to spend time on the Galata Bridge when there are dozens of
places to go? The purpose of the documentary Why Are You Here is to pursue
exactly this question, to mirror why these people are on this bridge, and to
discover the unknown stories of the bridge from an observant point of view.
